Long biography

Two paragraphs

Vongai Nyahunzvi is an author, adviser and institution-builder whose work sits at the intersection of leadership, institutions and the inherited frameworks through which capability, credibility and progress are judged. Beginning in organisational development and change, she went on to undertake a substantial body of work across the United Nations system between 2007 and 2022, including leadership and management development, assessment centres, Resident Coordinator-related work and United Nations Country Team facilitation across a wide range of African and international contexts. In April 2012 she established VCN, her independent advisory practice, and across her advisory and leadership work she has coached more than 130 senior and C-suite leaders, including chief executives, directors-general, ministers and heads of UN agencies. From 2017 she served at Teach For All as Head of Region–Africa and later Chief Network Officer. When she assumed responsibility for the African region, Teach For All had partners in three African countries; by the time she left, its ecosystem of existing and prospective partners extended across more than fifteen African countries.

She founded the Alliance for Women and Girls in 2023, working with organisations across 23 African countries, and Equinexus Partners in 2025, through which she leads institutional diagnostics, advisory work, Depthwork and public dialogue. She served as a Trustee of Global Schools Forum from 2021 to 2026, and as Co-Chair from 2024 to 2026. She is the author of five books, including Reveal Yourself (2025), and is completing Borrowed Mirrors: How the Frameworks We Trust Decide Who and What Counts. Her life and work are the subject of the documentary Daughter of the Soil: Sowing Seeds of Hope, which premiered in Nairobi in 2025.
